Samsung Transparent Micro LED display I’ve seen many transparent displays at trade shows but they’re always bland with dull colors. However, Samsung’s new transparent Micro LED displays at CES 2024 are a bit different. The company had it on demo with a transparent LCD and the difference between the two screens was massive.
It’s still a concept but I like where transparent screen tech is going with the brightness and vividness. While LG says that it’ll be launching a transparent OLED this year, Samsung’s Micro LED interested me more because the tech produces brighter and more vivid colors. So you can see the content on the screen rather than dull colors on a see through display with the background behind the TV interrupting your experience.
Samsung Transparent Micro LED at CES 2024 Transparent TVs are more of a novel approach to tech rather than being functional. But it might change with Micro LED. Samsung had transparent Micro LED, OLED and LCD screens side by side, and the difference between the three was visibly noticeable. The LCD was dull and I could barely see the on screen content, while the OLED was brighter but not as much as the Micro LED.
Talking about real world applications, a transparent TV is meant to disappear when not in use. I like Samsung’s artistic approach with The Frame lineup of TVs more because it blends into the environment with beautiful photos and looks like a big photo frame rather than having a transparent screen sitting there idle.
The company showed fireworks and a soccer match on demo, and the former looked as if I was watching it in 3D because the background behind the screen was black. It was a cool experience but I’m not sure how much of a sense it makes in the real world. That being said, Samsung’s Transparent Micro LED is the best screen I’ve seen on a transparent display yet..
