Partners in wine are forever. Hota Kotb gave fans an update Wednesday on her former “Today” co host and friend, Kathie Lee Gifford five years after she left the show. “By the way, Kat’s living her best life,” Kotb, 59, said of Griffin, 70. “She’s in Nashville, she’s writing music, she is living her best life.
She’s playing with the cutest grandkids, putting out good music, so Kat, love you.” Gifford has two kids, producer Cody, 33, and model and actress Cassidy, 30, and she is also a grandmother to to Frank Gifford, Finn Wierda, and Ford Gifford. Gifford came up in conversation during the show’s “Faves and Finds” segment as Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager played a song she wrote called “3 Little Words” which comes out on Friday.
The pop ballad is performed by Louis York featuring Tamia. The Post has contacted reps for Gifford for comment. Gifford and Lee hosted the fourth hour of the “Today” show from 2008 until her departure in April 2019. The dynamic duo were beloved for their fun and mischievous endeavors — many of which included wine — while discussing the latest in pop culture and entertainment news.
Gifford told USA Today at the time of her departure that she was leaving the program for a more creative outlet. “It’s not that I wanted to leave the ‘Today’ show. I just had to leave if I wanted to actually fulfill lifetime dreams I have that I’m running out of time for.” “I’ve wanted to be in writing and producing and starring in movies since I was a small girl when I wrote a letter to Walt Disney and said, ‘I want to make movies with you,'” she revealed.
Gifford has worked towards those dreams and added actress, writer, and producer to her resume. She wrote and starred alongside Craig Ferguson in the film “Then Came You” in 2018, as well as the Hallmark Channel movie “A Godwink Christmas.” She also wrote and directed “The God Who Sees,” a short musical, in 2019..
