Hiker stuck in cold rescued from North Cheyenne Canyon

A hiker got stuck in the cold in in southwest Colorado Springs for several hours Saturday morning before firefighters rescued them. Colorado Springs firefighters responded about 6:50 a.m. to a call of a hiker who was stuck on steep terrain in the canyon and unable to move, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department in a video posted on Facebook.

Rescue crews located the hiker with a drone and hiked to the person to begin a rope rescue. Rescuers used the rope system to bring the hiker down the side of a rocky ledge. The hiker was off the mountain by 9:22 a.m., according to the department. The hiker was taken to a hospital with some injuries and frostbite.
