Coastal communities in Massachusetts are experiencing street flooding as a coastal flood warning issued by the National Weather Service continues until about 4 p.m. Saturday. The coastal flood warning covers all of Suffolk, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties, which includes the city of Boston, Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Eastern portions of Essex, Norfolk and Plymouth counties are also under the flood warning. In Duxbury, all off duty firefighters have been recalled due to significant flooding in numerous parts of the South Shore town. Floodwaters should be avoided due to potential hazards like chemicals, sewage and diseases.
