Here Are The Eight Emmys ‘The Last Of Us’ Won For HBO

(Photo by Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic for HBO & Max) While The Last of Us was shut out at the Golden Globes this past week, that did not happen at the Emmys at all.

While of course Succession locked down almost all the big acting categories, The Last of Us walked away with eight total, behind only The Bear’s 10, tied with Netflix’s Beef and ahead of Succession itself which had six. So, what did it win? Not exactly the biggest awards per se, but I mean, it’s still eight Emmys! Here’s what it took home: So I mean, you get the idea here.

The Last of Us won a ton of major technical awards at the show including makeup, visual effects and sound categories. And it nabbed its two acting wins in the guest star category. All very impressive, and it sort of makes sense, given that Succession would nab those actor wins but wasn’t going to win VFX or sound awards, most likely.

Generally speaking, neither was Beef, The White Lotus, The Bear or any of these other mass nominated series. The fact is that the voting body is painfully unaware of most fantasy or sci fi shows unless they show up somewhere like HBO. I’d make the case that say, Foundation on Apple TV Plus could deserve a few of these.

The Last of Us Regardless, we’ll see how the series does next time around once Succession is no longer around to dominate the acting categories, as both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey were nominated as leads. And now Kaitlyn Dever has joined the cast as Abby, which would likely be another easy nomination given her acting pedigree and what will be asked for in that role.

However, with The Last of Us season 2 not premiering until 2025, this wouldn’t be next year’s Emmy’s, it would be the one after that. It really will be anyone’s guess what nominations shake out to be then. Succession was literally 3 of the 6 nominees for Best Actor, and Bob Odenkirk was another where Better Call Saul is now over.

Best Actress is a little more diverse, but I’m not sure why The Handmaid’s Tale is still getting nominated for anything, and absolutely no one should be nominated for Yellowjackets season 2. I also don’t think Bad Sisters is coming back. So yeah, go Bella. And maybe Kaitlyn. We’ll see. Follow me on Twitter , Threads , YouTube , and Instagram .
