Haryana Stands Ready: CM Assures Full Flood Preparedness

As the monsoon season approaches, bringing with it the perennial concern of potential flooding, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has delivered a strong message of assurance: the state is "fully prepared" to handle any such eventuality. In a comprehensive review meeting held with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from across the state, CM Khattar meticulously outlined Haryana's multi-pronged strategy, emphasizing proactive measures, robust rescue operations, and seamless relief efforts.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government's unwavering commitment to citizen safety, revealing that extensive preparations are already in full swing.

A key focus is on real-time monitoring of water levels in Haryana's vital rivers and canals. To this end, cutting-edge automatic sensors have been strategically installed at critical barrages, including Hathnikund, Okhla, Tajewala, and Mahendra Pratap. These sensors will provide crucial data, enabling authorities to make informed decisions and issue timely warnings.

Further bolstering the response infrastructure, CM Khattar announced that all districts would establish 24x7 control rooms.

These operational hubs will serve as central points for coordination, information dissemination, and rapid response activation. Specialized teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been strategically deployed, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.

Essential equipment such as boats, divers, and life jackets have been procured and positioned to facilitate swift rescue operations.

Beyond immediate rescue, the Haryana government has meticulously planned for the well-being of affected communities. Provisions for safe drinking water, essential food supplies, and medical camps are being arranged to ensure that citizens have access to fundamental necessities should they be displaced or impacted by floods.

This holistic approach underscores a commitment not just to react, but to sustain and support.

Inter-departmental synergy forms the backbone of Haryana's preparedness. CM Khattar stressed the critical importance of close coordination between departments such as Irrigation, Public Health Engineering, Health, and Panchayats.

This collaborative framework ensures that all aspects of flood management—from infrastructure maintenance and water diversion to public health and community support—are handled with unified efficiency. Additionally, proactive measures like clearing drains and strengthening river embankments are being rigorously pursued to mitigate risks.

The Chief Minister urged district administrations to launch comprehensive awareness campaigns, educating citizens on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
