For months, perhaps even years now, the situation has been steadily deteriorating, but what we're witnessing today feels different, more urgent. Powerful, well-armed gangs have effectively seized control of vast swathes of the country, particularly in and around the capital, Port-au-Prince. They don’t just commit crimes; they've become de facto governing forces, dictating who can move, what supplies get through, and even who lives and dies.
