GRAMBLING, La. — Grambling State women's basketball started the new year off with a bang, setting the all time NCAA record for the largest margin of victory for any men's or women's Division I basketball history. Grambling State beat Houston based College of Biblical Studies (CBS) 159 18 on Jan.
2. The 141 point victory is the largest blowout of any Division I basketball game ever. The previous record was set by Savannah State in 2018, who beat Wesleyan (Georgia) 155 26, according to ESPN . CBS is in its first year as a program and plays in the Southwest Region of the Division II National Christian College Athletic Association.
According to ESPN, Grambling State started on a 34 0 run before CBS scored with 2:14 remaining in the first quarter. The score was 82 10 at halftime. CBS turned the ball over 57 times and shot 18.6% from the floor, according to the Grambling State box score . Thirty nine of those 57 turnovers were Grambling State steals.
The Grambling Lady Tigers ended their non conference schedule with a 6 5 record and open SWAC play on Saturday against Prairie View A&M University.
