The Eagles’ frustrations boiled over during their wild card playoff disaster on Monday night. With the Eagles still trailing the Buccaneers in the second half, tight end Dallas Goedert was seen rising from the bench and speaking animatedly to quarterback Jalen Hurts, who had been playing with a dislocated finger on his throwing hand.
Goedert was then tapped on the shoulder by backup quarterback Marcus Mariota before walking off. The Eagles, once atop the NFC at 10 1, found themselves on the wrong end of a lopsided 32 9 defeat, completing what’s been a season ending free fall in which they lost five of their last six games. Goedert, who scored Philadelphia’s lone touchdown in the first half, later elaborated on the sideline moment, telling reporters postgame he was upset at himself over a mistake made during the contest.

It was nothing.” Goedert finished the night with four receptions and 21 yards while Hurts — who injured his finger in the Eagles’ regular season finale loss to the Giants — threw for 250 yards and a touchdown. Philadelphia’s stunning spiral has suddenly fueled speculation about head coach Nick Sirianni’s job status , despite being a year removed from a Super Bowl appearance.
When pressed about his future, Sirianni said his focus is on the players in the locker room. “I’m not thinking about that,” Sirianni said, according to NFL.com . “I’m thinking about the guys. Again, there’s a lot of guys in that locker room, all the guys in that locker room, every single one of them that put their heart and soul into this.
I’m not worried about me.” One member of the Eagles whose future has been decided is star center Jason Kelce, who told teammates after the game he’s retiring , according to ESPN. The Buccaneers will now travel to Detroit for a divisional round matchup against the Lions on Sunday afternoon..
