Did you apply for the Colorado paid family and medical leave (FAMLI) program? The Denver Post wants to talk to you.

Colorado employees can now apply to get paid if they need to take time off for reasons that include having a new baby, dealing with a serious health condition or taking care of a family member. Workers and their employers have been paying premiums into a state insurance program after voters passed a ballot measure creating it in 2020.

It will provide up to 12 weeks of paid time off for eligible reasons. This month is the first time employees can receive the benefits. The Denver Post wants to talk to you if you’ve applied for benefits under the program, whether you’re taking it to welcome a new baby — by birth, adoption or otherwise — or qualify for another reason.

Coloradans also are eligible if they’re dealing with a medical issue, taking care of a loved one, helping a family member with military leave, or using the time as safe leave after an assault or domestic violence. Reporter Saja Hindi wants to hear from you, whether you’re a full time worker, a part time employee, self employed or a W 2 worker.
