Deoband Madrassa Horror: The Shocking Discovery of 40 Girls Locked in a Toilet

A wave of shock and outrage has swept across Uttar Pradesh following the horrifying discovery of 40 young girls, aged between 9 and 14, found locked inside a toilet at a madrassa in Deoband, Saharanpur. The harrowing scene unfolded during a surprise raid, revealing a severe case of neglect and abuse that has led to the immediate arrest of the madrassa manager.

The alarming situation came to light at the Jamia Tul Banat madrassa after authorities received disturbing reports.

Acting swiftly, a team comprising the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Deoband, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, along with a circle officer and members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), descended upon the institution. What they uncovered sent shivers down their spines: dozens of terrified young girls, visibly distressed and starving, confined within the cramped and unsanitary confines of a toilet.

Sanjay Kumar, the girls were found in a deplorable state, crying for help and clearly suffering from a lack of food and basic care. "When we entered, we heard their cries. We found 40 girls locked in a toilet. They told us they had not been given food for a day," Kumar revealed, painting a grim picture of their ordeal.

The immediate priority was to rescue the children and provide them with urgent sustenance and medical attention.

The investigation quickly pointed towards the madrassa manager, identified as Wasim. Initial findings suggest that Wasim's wife, who was reportedly responsible for the girls' care, had gone to Meerut, leaving the vulnerable children locked and unattended.

This gross act of negligence effectively trapped the girls, denying them access to food, water, and freedom for an extended period.

Following their rescue, all 40 girls were immediately provided with food and received a thorough medical check-up to assess their physical and psychological well-being.

They have since been safely transferred to a shelter operated by the Child Welfare Committee, where they will receive the necessary care, counseling, and support to recover from their traumatic experience.

The authorities have taken stringent action against the alleged perpetrator. Manager Wasim has been booked under multiple serious charges, including relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

His prompt arrest underscores the gravity with which the state views crimes against children and its commitment to ensuring justice for the victims. This shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for vigilant oversight and robust child protection mechanisms in all institutions caring for minors.
