Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of Guruji Ashram’s Birthday Celebrations on July 7

Massive crowd expected at Guruji Ashram; police advise alternate routes and caution motorists

The Delhi Police has released a traffic advisory for July 7 as thousands flock to Guruji Ashram for the spiritual leader’s birthday. Drivers are urged to use designated detours and avoid congestion zones.

On July 7, devotees from across the city and neighbouring states will gather at Guruji Ashram to mark the birthday of their revered spiritual guide. Anticipating a swell of footfall that could easily breach the tens‑of‑thousands mark, Delhi’s traffic police have put out a detailed advisory to keep the city’s arteries moving.

According to the notice, the main approaches to the ashram – especially the stretch of Outer Ring Road near DDA Sector 2 and the connecting lanes of Gandhi Nagar – will see temporary restrictions from 9 a.m. until about 8 p.m. The police have earmarked several alternate routes: drivers are encouraged to take Mahavir Enclave Road or Vikas Marg instead of the usual shortcut.

“We expect a large gathering, and safety is our top priority,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Arvind Kumar in a brief statement. “We request commuters to plan ahead, stick to the suggested detours, and remain patient if there’s a slight delay.” He added that traffic personnel will be on the ground, guiding vehicles and helping pedestrians cross safely.

For those heading directly to the ashram, parking will be limited to the designated lot behind the main entrance. The police have also warned against parking in the surrounding residential lanes, as this could block emergency access.

Public transport options are being bolstered as well. Extra buses on the Delhi Metro’s Green Line and additional auto‑rickshaw services will operate from the nearest stations, aiming to reduce private‑vehicle load.

Visitors are reminded to carry a valid ID, wear masks if still mandated in certain zones, and respect the crowd‑control measures that will be in place. Any violation of the advisory – such as trying to force through a closed road – could attract a fine of up to INR 5,000.

While the celebration promises devotional singing, bhajans, and a community feast, the underlying message from the authorities is clear: cooperation will make the day smooth for everyone – worshippers, residents, and commuters alike.
