Warner retired as the 5th highest run scorer from Australia in Test cricket, behind Ricky Ponting, Allan Border, Steve Waugh, and Steve Smith. The batter scored 26 hundreds and 37 fifties. The opener won the World Test Championship 2023 as part of the Australian team where they dominated India throughout the Test match.
Warner, known as one of the most dominating openers in modern cricket, also called time on his ODI career during the Test series. Warner's last assignment as an ODI player was the ODI World Cup 2023, which Australia finished on a winning note. Warner, in that tournament, had partnered with Travis Head to make several impactful partnerships throughout the tournament.
The Australian opener has won the ODI World Cup twice, T20 World Cup once and the WTC once as well. In fact, Warner won the player of the tournament award in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup that Australia won in the UAE. The opener is currently active in the T20 and T20I formats of the game and will be in the running to play the 2024 tournament.
Warner would hope to have a strong Indian Premier League ahead of the tournament set to be co hosted by the Caribbean Islands and the United States of America in June. Australia will hope to clinch another T20 World Cup trophy with the outgoing unit of David Warner, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc..
