Lions head coach Dan Campbell is more than happy to have Jared Goff as his quarterback. In a video the Lions posted to X featuring Campbell giving his team a speech in their fired up locker room after defeating the Rams Sunday night for their first playoff win in 32 years , Campbell took a dig at Los Angeles for casting Goff aside in the trade for Matthew Stafford three years ago.
“I’ll just say it like this, alright? Hey, you’re good enough for f–king Detroit Jared Goff,” Campbell said as he gave the quarterback the second of two game balls, prompting the locker room to erupt in cheers. In the wild card win Sunday, Goff went 22 for 27 with 277 yards and a touchdown against the team that drafted him No.
1 overall in 2016. It was Goff’s first playoff win as a starter since the Rams defeated the Saints in the NFC Championship Game five years ago to reach the Super Bowl. How electric was that pic.twitter.com/OmBWpiu2v2 Detroit will host the winner of Monday night’s Buccaneers Eagles game on Sunday at 3 p.m.
“I love and appreciate you guys more than you f—king know, I promise you that. I love you guys so f—king much,” Goff told his teammates after receiving the game ball. “This is just the beginning, boys. This is just the f—king beginning. We got three more of these motherf—kers. Next week, at home, our place, against whoever the f—k wants to come in here.” Campbell gave the first game ball to Lions general manager Brad Holmes, whom Campbell said he’s been “in f–king lockstep” with since they both joined the franchise three years ago.
“I absolutely love every single person in this room, man,” Holmes said after getting the ball. Lions fans were as loud as can be throughout the night as they finally got to rejoice in a playoff victory, and they’re hoping for more next weekend. “Dude, how electric was it out there? I’m telling you what, it doesn’t get any better,” Campebll said in the locker room.
“It’s everything you dream of and then more. That’s outstanding work.”.
