This will be Chubba Purdy’s third school. After graduating Perry High in Gilbert, Ariz., the same school where became a star, Chubba Purdy attended Florida State. He started once as a freshman in 2020 and was injured, ending his season with collarbone surgery. The next year, he opted to enter the transfer portal and moved to Nebraska.

There, he started four games in two years, throwing two touchdowns and six interceptions. In late December, Purdy announced he was again entering the transfer portal, and he reportedly to both Cal and SJSU. On Sunday, he confirmed he will be a Spartan in 2024. Last year, SJSU finished 7 6 overall, ending the season with a loss to Coastal Carolina in the Hawaii Bowl.

Advertisement Article continues below this ad With Brock in proximity to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, now the Purdy brothers will both be in the South Bay. The dates for home football games haven't been announced yet for the Spartans or the 49ers, but it's likely they'll have at least a weekend or two of overlap to to hit back to back Bay Area games.

In case you were wondering, Chubba isn’t his birth name. He was born Preston, but he apparently tipped the scales at 38 pounds as a 1 year old, prompting dad Shawn to nickname him “Chubba.” — — — — Advertisement Article continues below this ad.
