Broncos stock report: Russell Wilson watches offense look similar while young players try to finish season strong

In spite of his knee injury which kept him benched for two games, Bonitto still managed to make significant contributions in the Denver Broncos' defensive line on Sunday. His growth this season, on and off the field, indicates a positive trajectory. With his determined and consistent capability of pressuring the opposing team's quarterbacks, he's proving to be crucial to Denver's future defensive strategy.

Equally impressive is Singleton, whose numbers continue to command attention. Post his remarkable performance against the Chargers, the inside linebacker is now just a few tackles short of smashing Michael Brooks’ record for most tackles by a Bronco since 1991. Besides, he has tied for the most 10-plus tackle games in a season (12) in the NFL since 1999.

On Monday, head coach Sean Payton mentioned his high regard for the undrafted rookie, observing that he has been striving to enhance his potential as a bigger backfield threat, marking an essential aspect of his longevity in the game. There's also a distinction to be made about McLaughlin, who has had an exceptional first professional year and could potentially further his progress in the impending offseason.

Sanders, meanwhile, may not have made many big defensive plays during his rookie year, but he showcased his ability to read plays and make crucial stops during the game against LA. Going forward, defining his position on the field remains the challenge.

Regarding Denver's current situation with Wilson, it's been a mixed bag. With the looming $245 million five-year extension, Payton and the Broncos appear ready to part ways with him. However, the team's similar performance under Jarrett Stidham's command highlights the complications surrounding this decision.

For the Broncos, the 2023 season review will be earmarked with what-ifs, the team's diminishing efficiency in the run game being a noticeable one. Particularly worrying is their low conversion rate inside the 10-yard line at around 50% against the league's average of over 70%, which has significantly strained them this year.

As for the Broncos’ standing in the AFC West Finish in 2024, if they win they will against the Rams and the second-placed team from the AFC East and AFC South. In case of a loss, they will face Seattle, the New York Jets and the teams standing third in the AFC South.
