And it finally comes to an end. What better to end on than the annual compilation of stories that Here’s the final edition of BFW Rewind 2023. It’s been amazing compiling this for you guys. For one last time, sit back and enjoy as we take you through the zaniest, off topic, or behind the scenes moments of the year.
1. Off the Crossbar: Bayern Munich’s hotel in Qatar bombarded with pigeons Jan 10, 2023 — Come for the pigeons, stay for the dek. Bayern Munich ’s start of year warm weather training camp got a cold shower in the form of...pigeons. Pigeons, everywhere. An inauspicious omen to say the least. 2.
The Chocolate War: Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer promised Matthijs de Ligt a truckload of Swiss chocolate for PSG performance Mar 12, 2023 — Before the Niklas Süle jokes begin, current Inter Milan GK Yann Sommer was ecstatic with Matthijs de Ligt’s performance against PSG that he promised a truckload of Swiss chocolate as thank you to the Dutchman for helping Bayern advance to the next round of the Champions League .
The 35 year old did in fact come through with his unusual promise. 3. Is FC Barcelona setting up a snitch hotline? Mar 23, 2023 — This was when FC Barcelona were being bantered for “pulling levers“ to try and keep the club afloat, and apparently they had had enough of it. The Catalan club set up a portal for members to report any criticism hurled at the club.
Instead of trying to right the ship, they’re letting internet folks get the better of them. In true José Mourinho fashion, “ Come on! ” 4. The FCB Files: Bayern Munich’s History with Moles Apr 26 to May 1, 2023 — This is a bit different because this is a series that covers instances where inside information was leaked to the press and caused havoc in and around the club.
There are five parts in this miniseries that covers different times when moles leaked stuff to the press from 1996 to 2019. 5. Pole Murderer: Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel “Hulks up” to smash training equipment Apr 27, 2023 — Bayern Munich became an interesting workplace once Tuchel took over.
Chuck details workplace violence at Bayern Munich in this piece! 6. Grass tastrophe! Bayern Munich players fight against shoddy NFL turf at the Allianz Arena May 11, 2023 — Bayern were trying to cover ground in the Bundesliga title race but that of the Allianz was in such terrible shape that the club complained about it.
You could say the NFL grassed them (Bayern) up. 7. 500 posts and counting: One year at Bavarian Football Works Jun 20, 2023 — Dearly beloved staff writer RIPLT dedicated his 500th post to thanking the BFW community for showing him the ropes and how he established himself in the gang. Article 500 was published exactly one year after his debut article, so it was a special moment for him.

Oct 25, 2023 — Right after Bayern beat Galatasaray 3 1 in the Champions League, SBN went down and the postgame rush that should’ve come out of BFW was nowhere to be seen.
The speculations on how it went down knows no bounds and for all we know you (the reader) were responsible for that outage. You weren’t, were you? 11. Thomas Müller reacts to Harry Kane’s next hat trick in the most Thomas Müller way Nov 5, 2023 — So many of you may already know that Müller writes a newsletter every month and releases it by email; BFW decided to ease up the process by delivering it to you! Müller writes about the happenings on and off the pitch and gives his take on those.

La Liga’s Super League aficionados, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid , are surely keen to see how it will all pan out.
