Bally’s name replacing Trump on Bronx golf course

Bally’s name will officially replace Trump at the Ferry Point golf course in The Bronx. “BALLY LINKS” will be emblazoned on a massive green berm on the links — a symbol of the company acquiring the lease of the golf course from the Trump Organization last fall — replacing “TRUMP LINKS.” The giant TRUMP LINKS logo was visible driving over the East River on the Whitestone Bridge.

The scenic changeover — as shown in the below image obtained by The Post — will take place later this week, a rep for Bally’s said. It’s a big move in New York for Bally’s, which will separately submit a bid to operate a casino adjacent to the golf course. “We are incredibly excited about this new chapter for Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point.

This course is one of the City’s crown jewels—an amazing public course right here in the Bronx—and we look forward to being both responsible and responsive stewards of this compelling community asset,” said Bally’s controlling owner Soo Kim, who grew up in Queens. Kim also gave a nod to the Trump Organization.

“We want to complement the previous operator for maintaining the property at the highest standards and thank them for making this transition as smooth as possible,” he said. Bally’s has won over Bronx elected officials who represent the golf course and surrounding neighborhoods. “I’m excited for the future of Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point,” said Assemblyman Michael Benedetto.

“Bally’s has already had a positive impact on this community, and is committed to providing opportunities for economic growth and job creation. They have shown through concrete actions that they are a community partner you can count on,” the Bronx lawmaker said. Ex President Donald Trump’s company sold the contract to operate Trump Golf Links Ferry Point in the Bronx — a 20 year lease struck in 2015 — to the Bally’s casino chain last September.

The price of the deal could end up exceeding $100 million depending on whether certain performance targets are met, The Post previously reported. Trump is the clear favorite to reclaim the Republican Party nomination for president in a political comeback and has a real shot at winning back the White House, according to polls.

But unloading the golf course is another example of Trump’s withdrawal from New York after moving to Florida amid legal woes facing the Trump Organization, the family business empire. The former president is facing $250 million in penalties and a ban on doing business in New York when the judge overseeing his civil fraud trial delivers a verdict in the case later in January.

The Manhattan Supreme Court trial — which has been on hiatus since Dec. 13 — is set to resume with closing arguments on Jan. 11. State Attorney General Letitia James is seeking at least $250 million in repayment of alleged ill gotten gains from Trump, 77, and his co defendants, including his two eldest sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr.

The Republican 2024 presidential frontrunner is accused of exaggerating the value of his assets by billions on yearly financial statements to get better loan and insurance terms. Trump and his sons denied the AG’s claims and blamed any discrepancies on the financial documents on accountants and lawyers..
