Atlee Raves About Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ Trailer

When the lights dimmed at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday, the buzz in the air was palpable. The event, christened “Pratham Sankalp”, gave a sneak peek of the much‑anticipated mythological epic Ramayana: Part 1, and a few lucky eyes – including that of ‘Jawan’ director Atlee – got to watch the trailer before anyone else.

Nitesh Tiwari’s direction, paired with Namit Malhotra’s production values, seems to aim for a modern retelling while respecting the reverence the story commands.

Among the glittering cast, Ranbir Kapoor steps into the shoes of Lord Ram, a role that has historically been synonymous with Arun Govil’s iconic portrayal in Ramanand Sagar’s television classic. In a heartfelt address, Ranbir paid tribute to Govil, saying, “Your grace and authenticity have inspired generations. Carrying that legacy is both an honor and a responsibility I cherish.”

Sunny Deol, donning the mantle of the mighty Hanuman, expressed his gratitude for the chance to embody such a beloved deity. “It’s a journey I’ve just begun. Hanuman is mischievous, innocent, powerful – playing him feels like a joyous pilgrimage,” he said.

Also present were Yash as the fearsome Ravana, Sai Pallavi portraying the virtuous Sita, and a supporting galaxy that included Ravi Dubey (Laxman), Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Ajinkya Deo, and Kunal Kapoor. Their presence turned the screening into a star‑studded celebration of a story that resonates across ages.

While the trailer teased the visual grandeur, the film’s release schedule is already set. Ramayana: Part 1 will hit theatres worldwide on 8 November 2026, aligning with the Diwali festivities – a slot many consider auspicious for mythological ventures.
