Vice President Kamala Harris is set to make her return to the set of ABC’s next week, has learned. The booking of Harris kicks off the ABC daytime panel show’s 2024 election coverage, which is expected to feature interviews with journalists, elected officials and other guests, including both Republicans and Democrats.
Already this month the sho has hosted (now former) GOP hopeful Chris Christie and former Rep. Liz Cheney. Harris is set to be interviewed by co hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro live in studio on Wednesday Jan. 17. The cast members are expected to announce the interview on today’s show.
Harris, of course, was supposed to make her debut as VP in Sep. 2021. That appearance abruptly moved to a condensed remote interview after two of hosts, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro, tested positive for COVID 19. Subsequent tests indicated that they were false positives, but the two in the middle of the program, and Harris appeared via video instead.
The VP never actually had any direct contact with the hosts. Harris has been on the show six times before (including her remote appearance in 2021), and will be the second sitting VP to be interviewed on the program in studio. Then VP Joe Biden appeared on the program in 2010. THR Newsletters Sign up for THR news straight to your inbox every day More from The Hollywood Reporter.
