‘Big Dom’ returning to Eagles’ sideline for playoff game against Buccaneers

One of the Eagles’ most beloved staff members will be back on the sideline Monday night when they face the Buccaneers in the NFC wild card round. Chief security officer Dom DiSandro, also known as “Big Dom,” will be allowed to reclaim his post on the sideline following a ban from being there after a Week 13 incident with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

Since the altercation and banishment from the sideline for the remainder of the regular season, DiSandro has gained a cult like following from Eagles fans, and it’s become evident just how much he means to the players inside the locker room. DiSandro — described as a “fix it” to the Philadelphia Inquirer by linebacker Nakobe Dean — has remained a presence around the team despite not physically being allowed to be on the sideline during game day.

The Eagles said in a statement in December that DiSandro continued to “fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.” “Well, to be honest, you don’t really notice the significance that he played on our team till he was gone,” left tackle Jordan Mailata told the Inquirer. “And it’s like, [expletive].

We haven’t been executing since he was gone. We’re getting our [expletive] beat since he was gone. So maybe he was a little bit of that good juju. “So I think the positive vibes, man. Believe it or not, he’s actually a very positive person. Especially on game days. He’ll get you locked in.

So it’s gonna be great having him back, for sure. Just the energy. The energy that we needed.” The Eagles closed the season 1 5, including the loss to the 49ers and saw the Cowboys win the NFC East. DiSandro found himself not allowed on the sideline after he got into it with Greenlaw on Dec. 3. Greenlaw had slammed receiver DeVonta Smith to the ground and DiSandro stepped in between the two players, which led the San Francisco linebacker to exchange words with DiSandro and aggressively point and touch the Eagles’ head of security’s face.

The scene led many Eagles players, including Shaquille Leonard, to rally around DiSandro. “You’ll go to war for people like that,” Leonard said, according to the Inquirer. “For me, he’s about like the equipment people who do all the dirty work and the cafeteria staff who do all the dirty work, who don’t get no acknowledgement.

You want to go out and win not just for your teammates and the coaches.” The Eagles and Bucs are scheduled to kick off at 8:15 p.m. on Monday night..
