'12th Fail' Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Son Setting Ranji Trophy On Fire

Agni Chopra, son of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, has taken the Ranji Trophy by storm. On debut, Agni scored 166 for Mizoram in response to Sikkim's large total of 442 for 9. However, Mizoram were bowled out for 214 and had to follow on. The 25 year old then smashed 92 following on to help Mizoram post 397 and setting Sikkim a target of 170.

During his knocks, Agni smashed a combined 30 fours and eight sixes. Despite Agni's heroics, Mizoram lost the match by four wickets to Sikkim in Nadiad. In the ongoing game against Nagaland, Agni scored a blistering 164 in 150 balls to help Mizoram take a solid lead. He smashed 21 boundaries and three sixes to make a strong impression in his first two appearances in India's premiere red ball tournament.

Speaking of Agni, he was born in Detroit, Michigan in the United States on November 4, 1998. He is the son on filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and renowned author Anupama Chopra. His father, Vidhu, is currently enjoying the success of his film '12th Fail', released October 27, 2023. Agni his started his career with Mumbai in the junior ranks, featruing in a handful for Cooch Behar Trophy matches.

However, after failing to break into the first team at Mumbai, he decided to switch his base to Mizoram, hoping to get better opportunities. His maiden appearance for Mizoram came last year in October during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Chhattisgarh, where he notched up a modest five runs.

So far, he has played seven List A and T20 matches, scoring 174 and 234 runs, respectively..
