A Life Cut Short: Mohali Man Dies in Tragic Kurali Hit-and-Run, Hunt for Driver Underway

This past Sunday night brought such a tragedy to the Kurali bypass area, where a young man, just 30 years old, was struck down in a devastating hit-and-run.

Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Bawa Colony in Mohali, was reportedly attempting to cross the bustling road when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. The driver, in a callous act, chose to flee the scene, leaving Lakhwinder gravely injured. Imagine the scene: a dark stretch of road, the sudden impact, and then, heartbreakingly, the perpetrator simply vanishes into the night.

Thankfully, a passerby, noticing Lakhwinder lying injured, didn't hesitate to call for help. He was quickly rushed to the Civil Hospital in Kurali. Given the severity of his injuries, doctors there made the crucial decision to refer him to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, hoping for specialized care that might save his life. But alas, fate had other plans. Lakhwinder succumbed to his injuries en route to Chandigarh, a truly heartbreaking outcome.

The Kurali police station has since swung into action, registering a case based on the complaint filed by Lakhwinder's brother, Satpal Singh. The charges are serious: Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to rash driving, and Section 304-A, for causing death by negligence.
